Announcing Badgeville for Drupal
According to Gartner, the market for social software and communities is now well into the billions, and websites everywhere now include profiles, social networking, and user generated content.
But with limited time and many technologies jockeying for their attention, it can be hard to inspire frequent user engagement and retention. In fact, Gartner says that only 30 percent of available users ever login to proprietary online communities.
The problem here isn’t with the tools itself; It’s getting people to engage with them.
That’s why we’re thrilled to announce our partnership with Acquia and the launch of Badgeville for Drupal. This strategic partnership delivers the first gamification platform integration for Drupal-powered websites and online communities, driving more user generated content and rewarding contextually rich user behaviors.
We already have several customers who have had great success integrating the two products together, so this integration helps deliver that capability to more Badgeville customers. One in particular is Mother Nature Network, an online media site that delivers breaking environmental news from around the web. Leveraging Badgeville and Drupal together, they build The Nest, a social loyalty program that allows members to convert their Badgeville Achievements & Rewards into real donations to participating non-profits of their choice.
Here’s how it works:
- After signing up, Badgeville enables the customer to populate their admin console with key Drupal-based behaviors (i.e. posting, voting, commenting, etc.).
- There, right within the admin console of The Behavior Platform, they can assign specific point values users earn for performing those behaviors.
- From there, the customer can also configure specific rewards that they want to enable, and the specific Drupal behaviors users need to perform in order unlock them.
Did we mention that Badgeville is a big Drupal fan as well? Our private customer community is powered by Drupal, and we have applied Badgeville’s Engagement Mechanics to reward customers for sharing best practices, exchanging ideas, and interacting with their favorite members of the Badgeville team.
